Why not a team?
In Lebanon, we've had the tendency of following a PERSON, in all circumstances, in all his opinions and positions. We believe in him, as the holder of the solution key, the magic wand for all our problems. As long as he is there, we put aside our critical mind and we rely only on him. I don’t deny for anybody the right of supporting a leader. But we saw the dangers of such a thing in case of the disappearance of this person. Are we, in Lebanon, able to think in terms of teams? Generally, in Lebanon, the dominant hierarchy in taking political positions is the following: 1- Admiring a person or being seduced by him 2- Studying his history 3- Endorsing his positions 4- Giving him a blank check for future positions Why not try to adopt that hierarchy: 1- Studying Lebanese history 2- Building a vision for tomorrow’s Lebanon 3- Appointing a team of officials in accordance with this vision 4- Evaluating each one’s actions and positions according to that vision. That’s why I suggest each one present briefly, in 2-5 lines his vision of Lebanon, and then suggest a team of 6-10 people, he/she sees as the most capable in pursuing this vision. Remember, a team is more than a group. Regards

- Fighting corruption: Nassib Lahoud
________________________________________________________- Improving Economy: Fouad Sanyoura - Improving Lebanese Industry: Ghazi Youssuf - Improving human rights conditions: Ghassan Mukhaiber - Improving contact with Lebanese youth: Wael Abu Fa3our - The wiseman who can give wise advices: Ghassan Tueni - Abolishing Sectarianism: I dunno his name i think it's Mohammad Sammak, he's general secretary for christian-muslim dialogue - Making great connections with all foreign countries: Saad Hariri In this way, Nassib Lahoud will take care of opening all economic files since debt started, Fouad siniora will take care of having financial policies and financial theories for improving economics condiitons in Lebanon. Ghazi youssuf must take care of improving the lebanese industry la2annou we cannt have a developed country without improving its industry. Human rights are being negelected in prisions, in many poor area, Ghassan mukhaiber is the one for dealing with that. In this way, my dream country will be a non-corrupt country with strong economy, a country for everyone where religious beliefs are completetly and fully respected, and everyone can enjoy sovereignty and prosperity, fully benefiting from his rights as a lebanese citizen. And since a small country like Lebanon depends on sovereign relations, we have to make the least number of enemies (except Israel), and the biggest number of connections

I personnally dont see why Nassib Lahoud would be the best man to fight corruption... otherwise why people didn't vote for him ?

Thanks Farah for understanding the goal of my thread...
First, my brief vision of Lebanon. A country where religious, cultural diversity is a CHOICE and not a fatality, but where people are judged and chosen not because the spermatozoide who contributed to their existence comes from a man of a certain sect. A totally democratic country, outward oriented, in order to benefit of cultural and technological advances of the world, but also to show the world the example of a winning cooperation between its components. A liberal country where the personal initiative is the engine of its progress, where the value of work is put at the top, where the opportunity of realising new ideas and concepts is open, a knowledge-based economy. A country supporting in its foreign policy all just causes, who'd show the world that democracy and fighting occupation are not antagonists. A country who has the duty of showing that democracy can flourish from inside, and who serve as an example to all other arab countries. A country where nothing is more sacred than freedom of expression. Where people are ready to die in order to preserve my freedom of expression even when my thoughts are in total contradiction with theirs. According to that, my "dream team" would be: Nassib Lahoud - Ziad Baroud - Ghassan Salamé - Ghassan Tueini - Fouad Siniora - Nasser Saidi - Misbah Ahdab - Fouad Boutros - Saadeddine Hariri. All these people, from all ages and generations, represent modernism and avant-guardism. Each one of them represented an avant-guardist experience in politics. The big majority of them, are self-made men, whose cooperation cannot lead but to the better of Lebanon. To be frank, I added Saad Hariri at the end. Not to flatter this forum. But, I think he might be the best bridge in order to ensure a massive and final endorsement of the Lebanese national idea by the sunnite community. I trust his ability to gain experience, and to diffuse among his supporters the ability to evolve from their situation of "sectarian solidarity" to the situation of bridge-builders. What he could achieve as a shift in his community is very important, but needs yet to be strongly solidified. It's a challenge I hope he'll be able to win. I'm ready to gamble and bet on him. You - his supporters - will be the sign of his success or his failure. Regards

Yalla... I'm counting on you all to contribute to this thread. Maybe after a decent numbers of answers, we may build up a common "dream team" and cross the priorities of the different visions.
Thanks.
